Plant With No Name

Tempe, AZ(Zone 9a)

My husband recently built a small koi pond in our front courtyard so I'm a newbie here. I was going to list this on the Plant Identification Forum but this one is more specific. We added this plant which we found at a Plant Sale but it has no name. I'd like to read up on it so if anyone knows what it is, I'd appreciate any information you can offer.

It is sending runners all over the place and I am just hoping it may not be too invasive for my small pond. Thanks in advance.

I have not seen that plant before. The bloom is very pretty. I would say if it is sending out a lot of runners it is probably going to be invasive for you. What you could do is simply break off the runners as you see them to keep it under control.

I was looking up a plant called Lizard's Tail today and came across what seems to be your plant (minus the posessive) -- Lizard Tail.
I'd never seen it before today either, but it seems like it might be an invasive according to the PF like tetley said. Think this might be it?

Yes, that's it. I like the flowers and they last for days. Good advice tetleytuna, according to the PF, it is pretty invasive. I'll have to keep it cut back. I hadn't even noticed the red spots until I went back through my pictures again. Thanks art_n_garden, my luck that you just came across it when I posted my picture.

I notice that it is also poisonous if handled. Does anyone know if it is going to be harmful to the koi?

Thanks so much for all your help.
