Branching on seedlings

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

My seedlings have taken off very well, despite a rough beginning with sunburn. One of my seedlings have branched, and I was wondering if this is a common thing. I thought it had to bloom before it branched? I know it takes years before it blooms, but I guess l was hoping this was some kind of indication that it might be an early bloomer. Here's a picture. . .it's a little crowded in there with the branching going on so low to the pot.

This one looks like there's 2 more branches emerging.

I have seedlings like that too. The most common kind is to be single-branched for a couple of years until the first nub or the first inflo is sent up. More branches on a seedling usually means a larger, wider tree, but ultimately, it is a good thing.

How old are these seedlings? They are really healthy-looking - can't wait for your pictures showing their progress!

My seedling was less than a year old at the time that they picture was taken -- probably four months old.

Mine are about 4 months old. I would love to post more pictures of the seedlings, but figured without flowers, there's not much to show.

I think its neat to watch them grow . They are so different shapes of leaves color of tips some grow faster than others . I try to take pictures at least twice a month to use for reference same with the flowers So you can see what month that culivar flowered keep a log of pictures the pictures tell the story. Most of mine don't have tags Yours looks very heathy look forward down the road to see the flower
