For You Animal Lovers - Sarvey Wildlife Reserve Update

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I found out about these guys years ago when I happened upon an opossum who had been hit by a car. They came and collected him, nursed him back to health, and released him. Here's their recent update. I find their updates heartening.

Hello Everyone,

Well here we are heading into summer although you wouldn't know it by the weather here. Windy, rainy cloudy and kinda chilly but soon to change.

Sarvey has been very busy with babies and adults. In the last two weeks we have released 82 of our wild brothers and sisters. 9 of whom were barn owls! We also have a peregrine falcon ready for release.

We now have 4 fawns, 3 redtail hawks, 40 racoons, 25 crows, 15 opossums and the list goes on. Oh... two baby bobcats just arrived a week or so ago, way cute! One is a female and the other a male. If you happen to visit the center you can see them on our closed circut 'bobcat cam' on the monitor in the education building. They are off limits to everyone except the two people who care for them. Stay tuned for new pictures of them.

Added to the website is the Spring 2008 newsletter with two very good stories from Tom Trapp and Hollie Blanchard, plus a baby duck request from Dianne Johnson. Also included is what is happening at Sarvey.
.
New galleries from Kestrel Skyhawk and Ken Lubas are featured. Also included is footage of the bobcat release!! Just go to 'videos' and you'll see it. It went purrfect. This guy hunted and was acting just like he's supposed to. A job very well done by the staff and the volunteers.

As you all know the cost of fuel has skyrocketed. We run the only wildlife ambulance in the state and your donations to help keep it going are crucial. We are asking everyone who drops off an animal to please help even more with a donation. Our costs are going up just like yours. We have a fund raising team actively searching for sponsors for the ambulance.

We have the best volunteers anywhere and this place could not run without them. To our financial volunteers.... we wouldn't be here if not for you all. Thank you to both!!!

We are in the most expensive time of year right now so please make a donation today and please consider becoming a monthly donor. Your gift is the difference between life and death for these guys. All donations are tax deductable.

What about doing a fund raising plant swap for them? With the numbers you attract at your swaps, asking for a dime donation per plant (optional) could raise a tank of gas for the ambulance, and still have swappers going away with bargains.
