Doppler radar or arthritis?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I think these weather men should have to hock their doppler radar and purchase Ben Gay and crystral balls for us PNW'ers. They've been at least 75% Wrong since about the middle of March. Using my shoulders and looking out the window I'm only about 55% wrong. Wish everyone had a job where it doesn't matter whether you are right or wrong, off by 10% or 90% you still keep your job and get paid. I think they must secretly be working for the current admin. of this country. Guess you can tell, not in a very good mood, I NEED SUN. Today for sure, they said.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yeah. I think these poor guys are really keeping their heads down these days. It's been a challenge for them.

Since we're wishing, I'd like the kind of job where you get paid millions, even if you're not able to maintain the athletics statistics that got you hired in the first place. And then you get to complain because your place of work is too old and doesn't have all the latest gadgets and amenities.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

LOL - Vicki, you made me laugh out loud for sure!

LOL! Where do I sign up??? I'd like the kind of job that's frequently advertised on street corners: work from home for only a couple of hours a day and make millions your first year! How can I get me one of those??

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I just saw this one: "If you didn't make $30K last month, call me." I'm so tempted . . .

Hey! Sign me up!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL me to, all the so called good days, I have to work. I want to be one of them.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Oh, oww. Do you really want to be one of those people? If you made £30K last month, you had zero time in the garden, probably had barely enough time to kiss your sweetie, and certainly didn't have time to take photo's of your furry friends. I'm going with Vicki's original request - lets get those sun dances started - Pix, will you set the beat?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL Laurie I just about do that now, I want the money.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

I was just about to acquiesce on this, then a little dog just came in to say good morning - nah, I'm sticking with my time off.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Oh. I was thinking that the sign meant that you could do the same thing you were doing now (or less), but for all the money. A little overoptimistic.

Just got back from a neighborhood party where I found out that the owner of a neighborhood house that has had lots of new improvements going on in the yard was able to afford them after winning a lottery. Apparently the brand new garage outbuilding he just build is to house his Lamborghini. I haven't seen that yet. Oh to win the lottery.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Okay, THAT would be fun.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

I am done "work working," but wouldn't turn down a nice lottery winning!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I realized after talking to everybody that we've all enjoyed watching him spend his money the last few months (new garage, beautiful black wrough-iron fence, huge first removed, property releveled, lanscaping). Feel like he owes us a tour now. LOL

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Yes! I love tours - its the best of both sides of my personality: I can praise praise praise while sucking air over the mischoosen plant/sculpture/pathway I would have done better (not) with no feelings of guilt for disloyalty!

Now see, the lottery winning is just the kind of job I want! I get that 30,000$ a month and don't have to lift a finger! Plenty of time to smooch the sweetie and garden as well. Actually , my DH did win a small lottery winning and thus we will have a vacation this year. He won a 2000$ vacation get-a-way at a resort of our choice from a good list of them. We chose to go up to Friday Harbor and stay at Friday Harbor House. We're going to stay there several days, and then use this as an excuse to have a real vacation. Wahoo! Hope we have a boat by then.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Pix, fun, fun fun.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

ohhhohhohhh - Pix, you won without having to play! Now that is good going. Enjoy enjoy.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Melissa, that's fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! :) It's sort of a happy bday in advance, which is designed to make me feel better about the decade coming up. I will pretend that it does.
But I hope this doesn't mean that I'm disqualified for the 'set for life' winnings that I really want!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Its the taster to the 'set for life', its letting you fine-tune your ambitions: scaling them up, broadening your desires, adjusting gradually to your new excesses

LOL!! I'm adjusting! I'm adjusting! I'm ready for the new excesses! bring them on! my dh is ready too. Maybe I can stop worrying about him falling asleep at the wheel on the highway when we are independently wealthy.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Oh, yes, that is definately a plus about being independently wealthy - having a driver! Oh, that would be good.

I've got a great idea - when we are independently wealthy, lets have drivers so we can have potting benches in the back of the car and pot on seedlings while we are being driven around to various gardening-important places! And the driver will be instructed to occassionally do a little narrative: 'ah-hmm, may I just draw your attention to the lovely Cercis Canadensis coming up on the right' and if we are busy at the moment we will just politely ask him to go around again - this is a good idea, very good.

Oh, I could live that way with no problem!

I can feel it! Can I call my driver 'James' and will he have a crisp uniform and call me 'madam'? Will he say 'very well, Madam' and 'as you wish, Madam'? I'm loving it already!! He will keep the car scrupulously clean and there will be glass between the driver and the occupants. And there will be a little bar in the back where cool fizzy drinks are kept. I can see that I need to spend more time in this fantasy! What's that they say about creating your own reality?

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

You may call him what ever you want, and, because he is your driver, he doesn't even mind if you change his name. And he will hoover up all the spilt compost from the potting bench while you are in doing horticultural sightseeing. And restock the fizzy drinks.

I will have him double as my gardener when he is not driving. I will teach him the difference between a flower and a week and he will keep my garden beds scrupulously clean just as he does the car.
I love the word 'hoover'. It is much better than the american version, Vacuum. How boring. Hoover is way better.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Well, you probably had more choice in vacuum cleaners - and the fair trading laws would only allow you to use a non-brand designated verb - we probably only had one type of vacuum cleaner, so the name became the activity. There are times we do get confused.

Still, a cool word! I just like the way it rolls off the tongue. "Non-brand designated verb"... LOL!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

And Hoover sounds much better than Eureka. Or Royal.
Dirt deviling might work, but people would look askance...

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I need to stay at home and devil some dirt . . . hmmmm.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

I'm going for 'dirt devilling' - I might even be willing to do that if I used that phrase!!!! Let me think, weed or dirt devel? Nope, weeding wins out still.

I need new weeding shoes - mine have sprung leaks - I hate soggy socks - I hate having to take time to go get no weeding shoes. Another choice: weeding/dirt devilling, soggy socks/weeding - oh, make life simple: gaffers tape! Excellent!

Good Morning, Laurie, although for you it is not a.m. any longer.
I just happened upon a gardening shoe that I absolutely love.
I bought them to "trial", as there weren't any reviews to reference. They are by Crocs, BUT - these are laced, cushioned-bottom comfortable, not hot, and waterproof. I believe they are called "All-Terrain." While not particularly trendy-beautiful (do we care?), I have found them to be near-perfect, as it is typical that I will be engaged in dirty work: weeding/digging/weed-eating, anytime I garden. Tennis shoes do not last for me, they do not provide the proper support for edging or digging. nor are they waterproof. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are so wide. But my toes are happy campers & yesterday at 84°, they were not sweating, as they do in my Muck boots or Wellies.
I'll see if I can find a pic for you.

Here you go, and Zappos.com has colour choices!

I have taken to wearing waterproof sandals in the garden during nice weather. That way I can walk in my stream and cool off the tootsies. Also, I like that nice tan line I get on my feet when I wear sandals. It means I've been outside. I get sandles with thick rubbery soles so that I can still step on a shovel or spade without care. Must get outside just now! Ta Ta!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Crocs Axle?

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

I think I like those shoes, and since I left-turned to the nursery, and forgot the shoe trip - I'll see if I can find them here. Thank you.

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Just catching up on many threads since making it through the last week of school and the dreaded report card writing marathon, and look what I have missed..!!!...gardener daydreams, new words for yucky housekeeping chores (dirt deviling), and good NW foot-gear.

Have a great vacation in the San Juans, Pixy. When do you get to go?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Enjoy Pix.

In August. Don't know which day we are leaving, but it will be in the middle of August. We have reservations at Friday Harbor House for aug 15-17. Now we just need to find a boat! We've been looking but so far nothing has jumped out at us. We may have to charter one, but that's pretty expensive, especially when we want to buy one anyway. So we better find one soon!
