Thanks, Linda!! This is an interesting and informative article!! I had already suspected this as the number of butterflies in our neighborhood is down from nineteen years ago that we moved into this rural community.

Thanks again,

Chuck

Great article Linda! Fascinating information. I too see a decline here in my warmer zone. I do believe it is global warming here in my area. But luckily, I am still seeing butterflies of all kinds coming through and hanging out in my yard. More people should grow the plants that the butterflies need to survive. Let's just keep spreading the word! :-)

Thanks for posting that link! :-)

Nectar plants + host plants + butterfly-friendly organic gardens! Then we should set aside as much land as possible to be used as wild or semi-wild natural habitat for wildlife and native plants. I worry about the abrupt changes in the environment. Going from drought to flooding back to drought, for instance....anyway, that's what we've had here. I have trouble tolerating that myself...I doubt that the butterflies can do well that way. Quite a few of the smaller plants I planted outside this year aren't surviving the heat and high winds we've had...in spite of regular watering.
