I was wondering if this would happen

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

and it DID. A seedpod fell and is happily sprouting with no human intervention!!!! Tenacious, aren't they (sometimes!!!!).

The Pod Parent is Versicolor Pink, Wildform....the pappa could be anyone!!!!

I wonder if that could happen in Kansas? I had a pod on P.Versi last fall (only my 2nd naturally formed in 8 years). I left it dry all winter on the plant in the basement. We brought the tropicals (I have many many) outside about 3 weeks ago and set them in the shade to acclimate. I snipped the bud off and in my fury and excitement of the plants (and me) being "out to play" and getting my annuals potted up pretty, I must have laid the pod down ... somewhere... I wanted to share the seeds, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for tiny bunch of brug seedlings..or a very dry pod.

Fantastic picture ...now I know why they "pop" up wild all over your Island paradise ...sorry AuntB ...I think it may have something to do with the heat and humidity. You never know though.

How about that! To think how hard I try to make my seeds sprout in seed mix/soil.

Surprise...I've opened pods and discovered thriving sprouts inside!
Not often, but a few times.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

That is sooo cool.. I'd love to see how it progresses!
