Poor thing.. I have named 28 chickens.. all done with love via their personalities.. some by colors.. some by habit... ie - Advil, a black silkie who does nothing but bang (peck) his head on the ground for no reason.. nope not even food, Betsy Butt... the runniest butt-ed chicken I have ever seen.. no matter what that girl eats she gets the runs.. No body wants to sleep next to her.. Simon.. The know it all rooster.. a white silkie.. he stands tall and judges all, looking down his beak at all that walk by him, Pocahontas & Saqajawea.. the two buff orph pullets, these ladies are not afraid of anything.. they will cross the mighty 2 x 4 just to see what the hanging corn on the cob is.. and why it bonks each of them in the head.. the will jump off the highest towers.. (2 foot) just to wake everyone up by squawking when they thud at the bottom.. never-the-less these ladies are not pushy.. they don't steal the limelight.. they just trudge on and explore the world then come back and spread the news and next thing you know an entire flock (of 19) are marching to the new-found adventure these 2 have conjured up..
So with all this... poor little Easter Egger.. has no name.. she does (or could she be a he) have a quiet personality.. she is a follower.. does not elbow anyone... when I hand feed (at least once a day) she is right there.. not snagging, just cuddling my leg... she coos as we feed the others.. I always make sure she gets some (okay extra)
And I must say.. she is just beautiful!!! what color!!! So.. any ideas for a name for this cute Easter Egger?
A Chicken With No Name
Oh my gosh.....that is so funny. The way you described everyone had me laughing so hard!
Your Easter Egger is so cute....we have only had a few of them, and I have never seen a male Americana, but I think she does look like a she. Others will know more? How about Bunny? Or would that have you thinking she should should be sliding down a pole? Or prancing around for Heff? Your description of her personality made me think of our cat, who is the same way.....how about Miss Dainty?
I can't wait to see what everyone else has to say and what her? name ends up being! Thanks for a good laugh! : )
Charlotte--its my middle name, but it sounds so sweet and quiet.
Charlotte---it reminds me of the sweet gentle spider in Charlotte's Web. : )
Looking at a larger image of her, I noticed a little row of feathers around her neck that look almost gold. If you haven't named her yet, how about "Goldie"? She does look sweet! :-)
all suggestion sare nice. she looks like a babe or beauty to me... or a chocolate Oreo!
You say she "coos" when she comes around you? Wouldn't the obvious name be Dovey? Her picture reminds me of a pigeon or dove.
We have had Americauna roosters. In fact, last year when I got my order from McMurray, the "rare" breed was a pure white Araucana. I gave him to a farmer friend of ours because we had ordered BAs, and I didn't want another breed mixed in with them. Boy, what a mistake that was. Now I am trying to breed out the BAs with other breeds as they are scrawny.
My neighbor asked me the other day if the BAs were maybe a black Leghorn as we have a feather picking problem with them. He told me they had that kind of problem with Leghorns when he was young. I don't know what they put into the mix when they played with the BA to bring them back from scarce, but some of them are laying almost white eggs. They DO have colored earlobes, so they should lay brown eggs, but a few of them don't.
GG
maybe Lovey, she sounds like a loving type or Sweety.
humm humm "I been through the desert on a
chick with no name, it felt good to get out of the rain"
humm....
How about Emily Post- if she is as polite as you
say, she reminds me of miss manners, herself.?
Now thats funny Truest.... all we've had here is rain... my chicken CAN swim!
I like the Emily...
But I like Charolette better, she is like the spider... there, yet silent, unless spoken to.. and then only says what needs to be said, and says it matter of factly and goes on her way.. so to shorten it a little.. she will become...
drumroll please...
Charlee.. easy to change if she does.. LOL
Thanks guys, you all are so much fun to join in... I love sharing my new adventures.
Why not call her Easter?
How bout "JC" -just chicken. I named one of my new ducks JD for just duck. Good luck with the decision!
hey thats not a bad one Patch..
LOL, Charlee is it going to be?
well? thinking of this chicken last night.... Charlotte?
LOL.. isn't it odd how in the midst of our private quite time we think of such far away things...& people that cross our paths...
thank you tf for making me a part of your life...
and yes.. Charlotte it is! Charlee for short... untill it may become Charles... but I kind of doubt it.. she has a very feminine side.. soft and coo-ey..
I was wondering too, kind of waiting for an update. Cool.....I hope Charlee stays a Charlotte and doesn't turn into a Charles! : )
I am honored:0)--not sure what my late Great Grandmother and Aunt (both Charlottes) would think about my offering our name. But I think it is a lovely chicken name--and as you noted, convertible in case of roo-ness.
yep.. when shes acting all sassy & prissy I've been calling her Sharleaa... lol... but when here beak is up to her eyeballs in compost & worms it becomes.. Charlee.
