Found growing on the fruit of my quince....not sure what it is but hopefully you do!
What is this on my Quince Fruit??
That is so wierd. It almost looks like some sort of parasitic wasp. Very, very strange indeed.
Why don't you post this on one of the ID forums?
I would really run one of those oddities by your extension office and have them send it off to Clemson.
because Darius...I am still wet behind the ears...LOL ok I will try that and also Ardesias suggestion...I already tried the boss and he thought it was a wasp nest of some sort but I would like a little more into then that as I want to know what caused it and how to be sure I am rid of it!......
Well if it really is a wasp thingy of some sort, the bug ID forum will know...
quite frankly his answer made me think he had been in the sun too long LOL
cedar quince fungus. http://www.umassgreeninfo.org/fact_sheets/diseases/cedar_quince_rust.pdf
no branches have thankfully been affected as the link depicts! Thank you for the insight I do appreditate it....the fruit issue looks very similar to the pics but somehow not the same..either way I will treat it as a fungus and hopefull all will be well as I do have 10 rose bushes planted within 15 feet either way of the quince!
