Sincere Question

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I just received a post from someone I don't know about a picture I posted some time back on the landscape forum. I don't know what to make of this. I can't tell if they really think my garden looks like @#%!* or if they're upset at how much they think I spent. I think it was a mean post, but maybe I'm just getting my feelings hurt too easily. Will some of y'all let me know how you'd take this post? Here the message and it's followed by the link to the post. It's under "Curb Appeal" at the bottom of the page.

"It's not that nice looking. You should have done more to give it a better curb appeal. I guess money is tight." by respirat2008

I'm really stumped by this. Most gardeners on here are quite kind and helpful and I don't think I've ever seen a post like this. Maybe I've done something to ruffle feathers?????? If so, I don't have a clue as to what it could have been.

IMHO i think it is mean. hopefully they didn't mean to be but just sounded that way.

Plano, TX

wow! VERY rude ----it would hurt my feelings! i guess you just have to remember that it says a whole lot more about that person than it does about your landscape-sorry you had that kind of experience and hope it never happens again to you or any other dave's gardener

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Agreed - very mean spirited! Perhaps they didn't mean for it to sound that way, but it sure does. Looks to me like a person who can only feel good about themselves by belittling others.

Completely uncalled for, but fortunately seems to be a rare thing on this site! And by the way, they're wrong. Your yard looks very charming!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Some people are just naturally very critical, but I wouldn't let it get to you. Your landscape is lovely. BTW, that forum is evidently open to nonsubscribers and this person had evidently not hung around DG long enough to know that mean-spirited comments are not in the spirit of the DG community.

Humble, TX

I think your yard is BEAUTIFUL!!! I wish mine looked like that...maybe it will one day. ;)
Tabitha

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i think your yard is lovely. wanna come do mine

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks to all. I just wanted to make sure someone else would interpret it as I did. I checked the poster and they are a new subscriber as of today. I guess I was just the lucky person he chose to make his first post to. Thank you all again for confirming I wasn't nuts to think it was rude.

Happy gardening and let's have a rain dance for Houston!

Carrollton, TX(Zone 8a)

Your roses are gorgeous! - that was obviously just a mean sour comment!
I used to grow roses up north - but have tried here - they just don't flourish - not enough moisture/humidity

Kitty

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

crow, he is not a subscriber

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Ahhh, I saw today's date on his subscriber information and thought he was. Maybe just had to have a user name to acces the free portions of Dave's??

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

yep, thats it

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Parts of DG is open to any posters who just register with DG, not just subscribers..

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I think your landscape is gorgeous and that person was envious, don't pay it any mind.
Josephine.

Moline, IL(Zone 5a)

Crowelli will you please come do mine.

SueME sits drooling

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

It was just plain mean, and although I appreciate all of you who tried to be nice about it, that crack about money shows it was meanness through and through.

Remember the best gardening/life rule: you reap what you sow.

Plano, TX

it sounds kind of immature too--maybe some kid being silly? or do adults really talk like that?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

He or she could be biologically older than 14, but not mentally!

Edited to say sorry -- now I'M getting mean. It ticks me off when people do things like that, especially to people I like!

Plano, TX

we don't like anyone messing with our garden buddies!! don't get us started -right brigid : )

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

Gggrrrrrrrrr... I'll hold 'em down, you go get the compost...

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks guys. You've made my bobo all better!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Looks like his ugly remark has "disappeared."

Alba, TX(Zone 8a)

Gosh! I could only wish my new front yard would grow up to look like yours! I thinks its gorgeous and tastefully done. We just put up a "good" fence to keep the cows out (fingers crossed). Piles of cow poo just don't seem to add that special something to the yard ;'...but my compost pile looks good! I hope you have a lovely weekend and forget all about this silly person!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hi Crow, I noticed it earlier this morning and reported it to admin. The same person made an entry in the landscape.com of a beautiful ocean sunset and in the comments wrote ... It's a hoax

Anyway, I think Dave has removed it now.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

You have a lovely curb appeal. Makes you want to come on in and sit awhile. :-)

Hope you notify Dave of the poster's prank -- maybe he will block him or her from future privileges on DG.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Good, Brinda. Our posts crossed. :-)

Plano, TX

that second comment-"its a hoax" is odd too--what a strange thing to post! is he saying someone is claiming to have taken a sunset pic and they didn't really take the picture? i don't really get it--

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

The poster's DG page is gone, so I suspect he won't be posting anymore.

Plano, TX

did we drive him off?---------funny how we have decided it is a man?!

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Go get the compost?

Turn him into compost! Grrrrr!

Yup, him ~ LOL

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Crowelli ~ your gardens and yard have always been more than lovely. The knowledge you have shared is generous and your reaction to that post was far more gracious than I could have been! So there! 8 ) pod

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

crowelli... I am hoping HIS kids got ahold of the computer, and wrote those posts... SURELY a grown adult would know better... I wouldn't worry about it... even though I would..lol just like you.... the good friendships on Dave's are worth way more than money... and it's apparent you are very rich!! BTW .. your gardens are be-u-ti-ful!!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

tie him to the whipping post! 100 lashes with a limp tulip!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

All of you are always so much more than generous with your advice, compliments and encouragement to everyone. I think this gardening community is such a wonderful place because of the friendliness and knowledge of the people on it. That's also why a post such as that one stands out so much, because it is just so unusal on Dave's. Most other onlline communities I'm involved with (financial and lupus, mostly) have snippy comments on a regular basis, but not here. It says a lot about gardeners and their love of plants, the earth and creating a peaceful environment. Thanks to all here.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

crowelli, your landscaping is lovely and has super curb appeal. I gave up on roses a long time ago so I am really impressed with your beautiful bushes. The photo with the other bed in the foreground is excellent. Some people find pleasure in hurting others to ease their own pain. The person who made the ugly comments must have some serious problems. You just need to know that you were targeted because of your beautiful landscape.

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

And how nice to have a staff that would erase the traces. Dave's Garden Got Weeded!

Plano, TX

good one brigid! i like that---------remember you and i were ready to take him out the the compost--lucky for him he got weeded!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I am always amazed by some ppls comments. Your yard is more than beautiful and you can do mine anytime.

Some ppl just have to show how bitter they are by opening their mouth. I feel sorry for this person if they truly can not see real beauty. I feel sorry for them but not enough not to compost them. lol

Beautiful yard.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree, your yard is lovely but I feel as if I have to stick up for the roses...I have many, and they grow fine for me.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Crow - I just came upon this thread. Wow....is all I have to say. I love Brigidlily's comment....'Daves Garden got weeded'. AMEN to that!

Your yard is stunningly beautiful and I always love admiring your pictures when you post them.

I'm sorry that someone said something so hurtful. Regardless, you have been gracious about it and it's water under the bridge.

Now, will you please come over here and make my yard look as pretty as yours? LOL.
