Begonia
Begonia bipinnatifida

Although this begonia has atypical leaves, it has pale pink, wax begonia-like blossoms.

I love this one and the pot it in! Is it an easy one to grow?

Hi Kell--First off, congratulations on the Go Gardening prize! I got the begonia recently from Logees (http://www.logees.com/prodinfo.asp?number=B3159-2). It's native to New Guinea and Indonesia and requires a fairly high level of humidity, no direct sun, and protection from extreme heat. Since Iowa summers are quite humid, I think it will do OK on our front porch steps. This winter, if it survives its current location, I'll keep it in our tropical garden, up on the second floor of our house, next to our bedroom (http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/760/) OK, I'll confess to a bad case of zone envy! :-) Larry☼

WOW Larry, I have house envy. Your garden room looks so fantastic. I can tell you had a great time doing it too. Really fantastic. Your outside garden sounds so special too. I will have to look for a copy of Country Gardens for sure!

It looks like that begonia is out here. Not much humidity! Though I may just have to try it because it is so great looking.

Thanks for your kind words, Kell. I've heard that this begonia is a great terrarium plant, so that might be an option for you to try.

I do have the making for a terrarium too! LOL
