I've had this japanese tree peony for about 6 years, this year is the BEST it's ever been, with 11 blooms.

Lovely! Every year I'm tempted to get one but manage to resist. These pictures of yours make it even more tempting :-)
what surprises me more is that I did not cover it over last winter.....
however, the winter we did get kept it alive, deep snow, and no freeze/thaw cycles!
all three of mine survived! the other two are just in bud now.
