Hello all,
I was thinking that instead of collecting money to pay for the reservation we might try something different. I wondered if we could each bring an extra special plant (one that is very large or in full bloom or just dressed up nice). We could make a game of it by playing something like a cakewalk. We could collect a dollar per walk until we collect our reservation fee and then just do it for fun after that. So, everyone would get to have fun while we were paying our way and get a chance at a nice plant in the process.

As for the prize table, yes, yes,yes let's have one. I have only been to two RU's and both times Josephine and Frank handled the prize table. I would love to have it done that way again. Just bring something you yourself would like to receive and don't go overboard and don't be stingy! Make it, or dig it, or buy it if you must, but make it related to gardening please.
So, if we do both of the above you would need to bring a prize for the prize table and a special plant for the "plant walk".
I think the kids would enjoy the plant walk and it would be more fun than just giving a donation. It always seems to be that there is left over money and in this event we could just stop collecting when we reach our goal. We could let the kiddos keep walking for free until the plants are gone, thus giving them a real participation and an opportunity to win a prize.

On the prize table be sure to bring a prize for everyone in your group, so that your guests and the children will get a prize also.
For the plant walk, just bring one plant per member to help pay for the rental of the building.
