Anyone's pets had plant poisoning?

I know this isn't the greatest subject, but I'm curious about how much it happens, since we're all gardeners.

I want to put some Vinca Minor/Periwinkle under my deck to form groundcover. However, I have 4 semi-wild kittens (about 8 wks) who pretty much live under there and I'm hesitating to plant it because of them. I've found it listed on a few lists of poisonous plants, but I haven't found anything to say what specifically is poisonous about it, or exactly how toxic it is.

So I'm wondering how much plant poisoning actually happens - does anyone here have experience with it?
