Allium Bulbs

I was given some giant allium bulbs recently. I know they are supposed to be planted in the Fall, but can I plant them now? If not, what is the best way to store them until Fall?

I'm doing a co-op right now for allium and peony - you may want to check those out - they will arrive in Sept.
