The only morel I found this year:( My eight year old son kicked my butt this year. Did anyone else have any luck?

I don't go mushroom hunting. I'm afraid I'll pick the wrong thing up and poisong myself. :) My husband's brother and his wife were yearly mushroom hunters though. They made a trip north just to hunt morels. He passed away on Valentine's day so his mushroom hunting days are over. I love mushrooms and would love to learn more about how to do it properly. I did mow over a lot of good looking mushrooms. :) Not sure if they were toadstools or morels. We have 28 acres that are mostly woods so I'm betting we have a lot of mushrooms out there somewhere. It's pretty wet out there still though.

No Luck here....
I spent many hours and days looking across the street on state land and I have come to the conclusion that this is not the right area. The conditions are just not right for the little buggers. I am heading off to Mesick next spring and getting some.
Like you I found one next to the house after spending all day long looking.
I had found two last year across the street and I dumped the water I had them soaking in next to the house. I think I am on to something here. I also dumped the water from the one I picked and poured the water off it again.
Do love your muchroom. I will post a pic of my little lonely mushroom when I get back up north and I have access to my computer.
I do believe they are done. I will go to my mushroom site and ask if they are still finding them.
My son found his in Rogers City this year. I usually go around the West Branch area looking, and always have luck. I think they're gone for the year, but I'm gonna put more effort into it next year:)
Went to mushroom camp this year in Vanderbelt got some morales but mostly capps yummm had so much fun but man was it cold!!

Had one growing out of my carpet in front of my camper in the woods. Found a couple more.
We don't have many growing in our woods for some reason.
They sure are good though. I love them.
we did not go this yr! :( decided that there was to much to do here at home to be wondering around in the woods for hours and hours!!!

Ha, I wander around in the woods for hours as the norm. Even in the winter!
I love wandering around in the woods looking for mushrooms, I've only got really,really lost once lol I think I might have wandered the whole perimeter of Ogemaw County that day, now I have a compass:)
