anybody ever see a blue monarda...not purple

dawn and i found some in the wild. it is blue. at least that is what we both remember. not lavender and not purple. we hope to have a picture soon to show but just wondered if anyone else had ever seen one.

OOOoooo, I need to see a blue monarda :0) I have a seed mix that says blues and wine red mix, but the red put me off planting them...you want them?

well i have some red monarda this year. finally after all these years. jacob kline was found in the heat of georgia and now i think dawn and i have found a blue one. cocoa, i can't wait for this thing to bloom. you know how you see something and remember it one way but then when i google blue monarda the only one i can find is one called blue stocking which is really a kind of purple. dawn remembers it as blue too though. but i am questioning my memory and the suspense is killing me.

Even if it's the bluer side of lavender, sounds like you found a good strain of it. I tend to think of nepeta as blue. I only realize it's not when I compare it closely to another true blue.

Did you ever get an I.d. on that other blue wild thing?

oh, you mean that larkspur looking thing? no because dawn is the picture person and i forgot to ask her to post it. i am fairly certain it's a larkspur now like you and dawn said but just never seen that color. there isn't an east texas forum is there? lol. where do those people go to talk on daves? i only see them every once in awhile. we need some of those seeds. i have to ask someone. you need to get us some seeds. howya' gonna do it pedantess perd? lol.

Mama, I drove by the place where we dug up the monarda, and it hasn't started blooming yet. aaaghh, I hate waiting! I'm thinking it wasn't a true blue, but a lavender, with a blu-ish tint, however my memory could easily be wrong.

I'm glad you reminded me of the other blue flower. I just got my camera back Friday, and I haven't downloaded my pictures yet. I'll try ro remember to do that tonight and post the picture for an ID.

I planed on ordering blue larkspur seeds last year, but I really wanted the bunny blooms and don't know if they are different from the regular rocket...need to investigate them more.

why are we 3 the only people talking about blue monarda. like there is blue monarda everywhere you go. they don't believe me cocoa. and now dawn has spread doubt that it was even blue. but you'd think people would sit up and take notice about a plant THAT CAN NOT BE FOUND ANYWHERE ON GOOGLE. now when that thing blooms and it's lavender i swear i am going to dye it like they do those white mums in the grocery store. IT WAS BLUE. ya hear that dawn. you know it was blue. not purple. not lavender. my eyes were riveted to that plant the instant i saw it. and my eyes don't rivet to ...lavender. and that was said like lavender was a dirty word dawn.

Well, I've googled monarda with cobalt, azure, cyan, indigo, lapis lazuli, sapphire, and ultramarine with no luck. Having doubts, but keeping my fingers crossed ya!
