Possibly four new Alcoasia Hybrids!

I have been working on an alocasia hybrid for 2 years and have no success, until know! I have one hybrid with the berry's growing, It is a cross between an Alcoasia longiloba x Borneo Giant Hybrid and an variegated odora. which is in the pic.

Congratulations on your hybridization efforts! As you have found out by experience, this work is by no means an easy task.

For the record, the "persian palm" is Alocasia x calidora, one of my first hybrids. I never named it "persian palm" as you know it is not a palm and definitely not from Persia!

I did the (A. x calidora) x A. cucullata several years ago; the progeny did not sort out into any really special cultivars, at least for me. I also did the A. odora x A. reginula 'Black Velvet' and got six seedling segregates; see the link below:

I have one longiloba type that I intend to work with; it has leaves that are purple beneath and totally silver-gray on the upper side. I call it "Silver Ghost".
