Has anyone ever made a pondless water fall for the birds?
I need all the advise I can get before I start digging.
Pondless Water Fall
I just found this online; looks great!

Boy would I love to have something like this! I'd like a heated one for this winter...pleez!

This is the company that I believe really started all the revolution in biologic water falls. We were going to put in one of their ponds, but I'm having second thoughts since our neighbor's locust tree is right over the area I want to put it. And it is really messy.
SO… my next thought is an in-ground pebble fountain/bubbler similar to this.

Please, no!! - that would be horribly wasteful of energy!

Rose, when I had a small pond, the actual movement from the bubbler (sadly, no waterfall) of the water kept it free of ice for a while. In the deep winter, I'd put in a livestock tank de-icer to keep the pond open partially. I would guess you might have to stick to your handy blue heated bowls!!!!
Funny thing about the livestock deicer. We spend 25 bucks for it at Farm and Fleet. At a high-end Garden Center, they sold the same thing in the pond section for 50$!!! I'm on to them now!!
Resin...I'm getting in all kinds of trouble with you today...I would like to have something that doesn't freeze up but I will probably stick with my heated pet bowls as Mrs. Ed suggested! :0)
I have a pondless waterfall and stream with Aquascape products. I'd LOVE it to be on all winter, but I don't think it would work. So I break out my old bird bath and heater.
I've got a fair sized system, you can see some pictures here: http://davesgarden.com/community/journals/viewentry/200299/. But you can make it as small as you want it.
There's also a great forum over at the Aquascape Designs website: http://www.aquascapeinc.com/messageboard/index.php
