I was at Sky the other day, and found a Sedum for sale which was crested, and I snapped it right up, thinking I have never seen one of these before, and brought it home. Today I dropped by for a look-see at Emery's and there were 3 more Sedums there that were crested. Amazing.
Have you folks seen these plants? Come home with them? What do you do with your crested plants other than pot them up?
Just in case you are wondering, here is the picture of Sedum fosteranum crested.
Crested Sedums/Semperviviums
Interesting. Don't think I've ever seen one.
Thats cool, Rob
Yes I have a crested sedum angelina. Pretty cool. Is that one in your photo a hardy one or tender. I have alot of tender ones that are crested. Heidi
I have found a couple of sites that claim it is hardy in USDA Zone 5. I plant on keeping it outside all winter with some other hardy crests, and see how they all do. I will report back.
I am thinking about potting up the crests in a single dish garden, with a non crested plant of the same species in front to illustrate the difference for fun. Now all I need to do is find S. fosteranium for sale.
At 2:00 there is a Sempervivium, of which there are far too many green bodied, red tipped ones to name easy. Down at 6pm is what looks like it might be a Sedum, and the other reddish plants are hard to say, but could be Semperviviums if they are shaped like the one at 2:00.
More detailed pictures would be nice, but again, it would be hard to id further due to all the hybrids.
I suggest that Sedum Photos is a great spot to hunt down or get lost in all the pictures: http://www.sedumphotos.net/main.php .
Rob
Sure I could take it off your hands, and if I can't keep it I will pass it on to some one who can.
Let me know a good day for you and I will being it to work with me plus I have a montana for you. I am there Thur to Mon.
Rob, Was so nice to meet you today, so enjoyed it. Wish I was not at work and could of spent more time, as it was I was pushing my luck by not getting called in.
