About brug pollination

Hi, quite new to angel trumpets and have not much succes with pollination. I need some feedback on how to pollinate my brugs. André

Are you collecting your pollen and saving properly making sure it is well dried and kept in the fridge or freezer. I like to get the pollen on before the plant is fully open. sometimes I carefully open the bloom to get inside, other times I make a slit about half way up the bloom so I can get inside. I keep my pollen anthers stored in mini centrifuge tubes so I can just lift one out and use it to apply the pollen. Many people prefer to use a paint brush, but I worry about getting all of the pollen out of the brush and mixing it with other pollen. I have a bunch of tweezers and forcepts and can easily get the pollen where I want it holding the dried anther by the end. You need to find a way that works for you.

I don,t have as much success once the temperatures start getting hot. It seems to work better with cooler nights so you might have more success during the fall. I basically end up saving all my pollen in the summer to use when its cooler.

Thanks for the many ways of pollinating. I still have a lot to learn.
Angel, I will start collecting the pollen.

You can do it very early in the morning too ...before the bees are out and the temps are milder ...make sure you have loaded the paintbrush with the pollen so there is plenty of it then apply to the chosen mother blossom. Good luck with it.

Thanks chrissy. I have bought the seeds so far and just like to see them sprout and grow. Since I am retired, time is not a problem(got lots of it). By the way, I have seen many of your beautiful brugs on the forum. You must spend a lot of time taking so good a care of them.

I am very new to Angels too but have grown the Apricot and white for over 25 years ...I did not know about all the wonderful things plants available overseas ...we here in Australia are about ten years or so behind ... in the World of Brugs and are now going to really try to step it up with our own breeding ...so good luck and have a great adventure with your seeds and crosses ^_^
thankyou for your kind comments, I think we all love our beautiful Angels.
