newbie in search of creative idea for calla foliage

Hello. I am going to be supplying flowers for my nephew's rehearsal dinner where the theme will be tropical (it will be in a pool area).

I have a ton of the silver/white speckled calla lily foliage and I know there must be *something* creative I could do with it. (Won't have enough of the flowers to use them for the table arrangements but have tons of foliage!)

I keep thinking of pics I've seen in magazines where fruit salad or salsa or some such thing is even served on large leaves.

I've tried googling all kinds of variations of the words calla lily foliage, arrangements, uses of, etc. but all I get is arrangements made primarily with the flowers.

Any ideas out there for making a primarily foliage arrangement or using the foliage in some other way?

P.S. I am a total amateur. The reason I am doing this is that there is no budget for buying flowers ( or fruit for fruit arrangements). So whatever is in my garden is it.

Here's a pic of a simple arrangement using a calla lily and its foliage. (Of course, I'm looking for ideas for using just the foliage.)

How about arranging the leaves in a fan design and pin to the tables using bows and straight pins, or secure them with a little votive candle on each?

Oh, that would be gorgeous for someone who has lots of space to cover!

I don't think I can take that much space. The leaves are over a foot long (not counting the stem). Guess I should have mentioned that, huh?

But I might be able to put 2 together, stem end to stem end and put a flower or some fruit where they join.

How do you keep the leaves hydrated in a case like this where they will not be in water?

You can improvise like I have in the past using a bent straw, insert the stem and add water and tape to the plant to keep it hydrated. Can also get some floral foam that you soak and insert the stem into a small piece. You can purchase those test tube plastic things from craft stores that are made for individual stems but I have had just the same success with the straws and much less cost.

Have you seen the florists review thread by Marcia? It shows how to make an arrangement using Calla lilies, leaves and magnets.
