Hello again farmers. I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine turned into a real challenge. We got into yellowjackets on our endurance ride, they stung me twice, our horses got stung and my riding pal got many stings on her head, had an allergic reaction and almost died. Help was miles away. The next riders on the trail hurried to get help but it was 2 hours before she had any medicine. Meanwhile another rider and I tried to keep her warm with all the jackets we could borrow off the other riders who were going past and coached her to breathe. She said she was dieing and I told her "no you aren't, now BREATHE". She is ok now but it was a close call and very scarry. When they were taking her to the ambulance she told me to go finish my ride which I did in the dark. I was allowed extra time because of the emergency. She had never had any more reaction to a beesting than localized swelling and itching before, but about a dozen stings, mostly on her head was just too much. We are going to look into those kits you can take with you and inject medicine if needed. Count your blessings, I am.
