Nector recipe

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Does anyone have a recipe for that stinky BF nector?I remember from BF seminar years ago that it was pretty yucky. I saw what I think was an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail the other day when I was sitting on the porch after a rain and it kept landing on the wet concrete of the driveway like it was trying to drink. I put out a saucer with some strawberries and a slice of orange. It's pretty rotted now but if I remember correctly, rotting fruit was one of the ingredients.

I was loading up for farmers market yesterday, saw what I think was a Red Admiral. It was trying to nector from the stokesia aster I was loading.

Where is everybody...or should I say...everything? I have milkweed, parsley, dill and other yummies for BF and cats but I'm not seeing any activity on anything.Oh I do see BF out in the yard but I was hoping for more on the specific plants I've grown for them.

The recipe is in the first message at the top of the Fourm page that says "Butterfly and Moth Raising and Releasing sticky thread -- [Sticky]". Scroll down a bit and you will see a post from beckygardener. She has a link to it.

I haven't seen alot of butterflies here yet myself. I seem to remember more at this time last year. I am hoping things pick up soon because I am ready and waiting for them :)

Thanks

I'm seeing BF but no cats or any munching on host plants. I may just be jumping the gun but it seems like I saw monarchs on the milkweed this time last year. I need to keep a journel.

to be fair...I really haven't had much time to do much BF and cat watching what with hub's plowing up 2 aces to put in veggies for farmers market and going to FM since early May. I need to stop and smell the roses...might be a BF or cat on them...LOL

Not on roses, but I bet there are some on the wildflowers in the fields!
I only got 4 Monarchs to raise this year. The cold fronts pushed into TX and they went further East I think. I have released several BSTs recently so be watching your Parsley, Dill, Rue, and Fennel plants! They are on the way. Shouldn't take long with the high winds!!

I'm seeing lots of BF just no cats.

Well I'm disappointed too. Haven't seen but a few BF's and no hummers in days and days. This weather must be the culprit cause I have many blooming plants they like.
