Hello everyone,
I bought this shrub type hibiscus from Walmart because it had one open bud and I couldn't let it slip by. After bringing it home all the buds dropped and I've waited nearly 4 weeks for rebloom. Anyone know who this untagged beauty is?
Thanks.
Cultivar for a Walmart find?
Reminds me of the un-named double peach one that I picked up at a local drugstore, and I wouldn't be at all surprised for Walmart to be selling garden variety hibiscus that don't have a cultivar name. A couple other people around here have similar ones too, no real name but I think last year we decided to call them 'Pretty' because we thought they were pretty! But I don't think it has a real name.
I have this one which I bought from Lowe's about 5 years ago. The tag on it said "Jane Cowel". There is also a picture of it in plantfiles. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/44303/
it is very pretty! Every year it dies back after a slight freeze. I cut it down to the ground and by mid summer it is about 5 ft tall blooming it's fool head off LOL
Hope this helps!
Lisa
I also think it is the one Lisa says but the correct name is Jane Cowl, which is a sport of Peach Blow. http://www.australianhibiscus.com/Database/RegistrationsAlpha/j_registrations.htm

Well, guess maybe I was because the pic won't copy... anyway, hand held flower just like mine same foliage... oh well, it's all in fun anyway.
Oh No! I posted the wrong pic. Can't figure out how to get it off. Oops.

I too purchased one from Wal-Mart and it looks like the same one! I'm not that familiar with hybiscus- Mine blooms but the blooms fall off the same day. Is this the norm?
This particular one only lasts a day . Most others do too but there are also some that will last a little longer maybe 2 or 3 days.
Lisa
Thanks for the info. Now I'll have to sit outside and admire it untill it falls!!
And in cooler weather they'll sometimes stick around a little longer too.
