I'm having a hard time finding these two plants in nurseries. The goldenrod doesn't surprise me too much, but I thought "Purple Dome" was the hip aster to have a couple years ago. I know I could mail order them, but I'd prefer to see them in person.
I'm in Lenawee county but would drive a bit to get them. So far I've tried Lodi Farms in Ann Arbor (neither), Turner's Nursery in Ann Arbor (have the aster, not the goldenrod), Prielipp's in Britton (neither), Barrett's in Adrian (will have the aster in later, not the goldenrod), Shaffer's in Adrian, Hallson Gardens in Cement City (neither), and a few places in Monroe none of which had either. Heritage Perennial Farms (formerly Neil's Perennial Farms) in Tecumseh does have the goldenrod but not the aster, but it's not at all ready yet and I'd really like to go out somewhere, get these plants, and finish off the bed, KWIM :)?
Any suggestions would be welcome, including alternative plants. I love the deep purple of this aster in particular but I know there's a lot of other choices when it comes to compact varieties.

Did you try calling Bordines nursery? They have a lot of popular perennials. WIth gasoline being so high I'd call around first before driving there to look.
