Watermelon rind preserves

When I was a kid, I loved these. My great aunts made the preserves and I never learned how they did it. If anyone - probably from the South ;) - knows how to make these, please post. Remember, I'm looking for a recipe for *preserves*, not pickles. I can find all kinds of recipes for watermelon rind pickles but I want preserves!
