Possible Side Trip for East Texas Roundup

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Any locals have any dealings with this business. I really think it would be neat to check it out. Maybe someone could call and check with them. Those Ferns and bougies sure call out my name.

We are a small, family owned and operated business raising Boston Ferns and Bouganvillia primarily. We also raise many hanging baskets (purselane, portulaca, etc.) as well as assorted bedding annuals. We are starting to raise perennials this year, and are looking to grow for specific retailers. We make weekly deliveries, and can make special long hauls for the right loads. If you want to chat, or are interested in doing business with us, drop us a line at our E-mail address.

I am not familiar with these folks but there are several Mom and Pop people in the area. If you really want to go on overload, you can travel about 15 miles east of Jacksonville to New Summerfield. This is the largest GH area in the US. There are just lined up along the hwy. Many specilize in different type plants. The largest in the US once was Powells now sold and called Color Spot. Most of the plants sold at the box stores and the Dallas farmers market are grown right here. This time of year they usually have good prices. Interesting thing about this big grower, they have a machine that shoots chemical into the clouds that prevents hail.

Dave, Have been going to Canton, First Monday, for several years just to buy from Douglas Plant Farm, 650 S. HWY 175, Frankston Texas.

Are you familiar with this grower?

If you are coming then I assume that you will come Hwy 175. If so you will go through Frankston. I do not know this grower.
I have GH that I go to and take friends with me. At this time I do not buy many plants at all. Mostly trades and my free sources at the local GH's. There is a GH in New Summerfield that has great succulants and is pretty cheap. Also other that do just geraniums. A nice herb grower and others. Guess you get the idea.
You may want to see how much room you will have before you strike out there.
Anyway I can help, just ask.
