Yes, romping next to the gate to my chicken run. I think of it as a very generous rose :)

Aren't your chickens so lucky to get to see so many blooms everyday!

LOL they're very spoilt in other ways too!
This morning they had a quarter of a bucket of snails I gathered from one fennel plant ;o))

nice color on that one too--lucky chickens!

I could use a few chickens. If you let them run lose, will they go find snails and slugs? Do they eat the shells too or just pull out the snail. Geez, Iam now feelig sorry for the snails.

Mine seem to love snails, but won't touch slugs - though other people say their chickens will eat them.
These must be too spoilt!
They twist the snails out of their shells, or if the shell is soft they will eat the whole thing.
I was speaking to a french person yesterday who felt I ought to be eating the snails. I have eaten ready prepared ones in the past, but don't fancy trying these ;)

Yes, they will collect snails themselves if free-ranging. However they do collect a certain amount of plant matter too - not always weeds if you get my drift. I have to keep mine in as the local dogs are free-range :(

I couldn't eat any either. I have killed too many of them and gotten too much slime all over my fingers that is so hard to get off to ever put such a thing in my mouth.

Yes, slugs are the worst for slime. I moved a couple with bare hands yesterday and deeply regretted me - it took 10 minutes to clean the slime off my fingers!

I always end up using Ajax.
