I'm confused: you have them or you want them?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

Have: i have . lol. i just want some different ones. i see how i wasn't clear. but i do have ruby hearts and i would like to trade for other semps or maybe sedums.

Brookeland, TX(Zone 8b)

Do you have the PlantFiles link so I can see what we are talking about?

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

what are ruby hearts? do you have a pic? i have quite a few sedum starts of different varieties, but i dont have the names. (well i have a few names, but not many lol)

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

i googled it is this what they look like, this is what it was listed as?

that's the one. when i bought mine this spring it was that color. now the only thing that is red is the stem that is holding the new babies. not sure why the color changed.

Brookeland, TX(Zone 8b)

I think that has to do with sun exposure because I ordered some Pekinese Semps. and they are supposed to turn a firey orange/yellow/pink & they never have.

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

mama you have dmail

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

maybe so concrete. i bought this one at rohde's and when i got it this spring it did have a red center. so maybe i will see it again next spring. it's still pretty but i must admit i bought it because it was red. lol.

Chesapeake, VA

So that is what it is called! l have one also. No babies, though.

Greensburg, PA

Mama, I have a very nice red one for which I have lost the tag. Full grown, they are about 1.5" in diameter and are dark red, winter hardy here and seem pretty robust.
D-mail me if interested. I'll also try to get a pic. I have about 4 plants to trade.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

brightstar, maybe people don't know that name sempervivum and maybe i should have put hens and chicks. never thought about that.
krowten i would love an all red one.

Orlando, FL

I wish I had some to trade for that. I do have a tradeslist if you are interested in that kind of trade. I would love to have one...but have no sedums at all. I have a huge night blooming cactus and it has some babies if you are interested it that.

Here is the link to the thread were I got it identified...has pics too. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/782613/
I have alot of little ones going from 3 inches to about 10 inches I think.

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

those in #2 and #4 are hens and chicks, right? do you know if they are hardy ones? some are only hardy in zones 9 and up. i do like those.

Orlando, FL

Shokami...you have many pretties.

I get a kick out of the name of a town being Fate....is it a big place?...just curious.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

not till the developers came. lol.
fate was named for a man named lafayette and nothing more sinister than that but it is a cool name. my email address is flowersoffate. lol.

Brookeland, TX(Zone 8b)

Mamajack, I'd say Sokami2's plants are probably hardy. She lives in Coos Bay, Oregon, which is a coastal town in the Pacific Northwest. I used to live in Oregon, but now I live in Texas. When I was in Oregon we had some Hens & Chicks that were a wedding gift to my parents. They went from one pot to a dozen in the ensuing three decades with many many ice storms that buried them for weeks at a time. Sadly we had to leave them behind when we left Oregon, but I'm sure they're still alive.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

where on earth is brookeland? and shokami's plants are prob. hardy if she grows them outside. i plan to put these in dirt outside and not in pots. plants in pots don't do well here over winter. i am a great winter time plant abuser.

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

hey all im back. went hiking today down the coast. and yes! i grow all of these outside, so they have been iced, snowed, hailed and baked!! the only one im not sure of yet is the ones in #2. i got those from a little nursery up here and they had them in the greenhouse so this willb e their first year here. but they look just like some of my others so im pretty sure they will do fine! if anyone else would like a trade let me know!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i bet it is so pretty where you got to walk. i would love to see oregon in my lifetime.

shokami, do you by any chance have a rooted plant of that scotch broom? and i looked at your wants list and there is only scotch broom. i may have to find some of these myself as i liked them too. lmk if you do have the plant and if you do look at my trade list and lmk if we can make a trade. otherwise, how many of my babies do you want? i think there were at least 3 of yours up there that i would like to try. now all of them are hens and chicks, right? one of them looked sort of like one of those miniature cacti and i don't want that.

Greensburg, PA

Here's a pic of my small red semp, note that the pot is half in sun and half in shadow.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

do you have any idea the name of that one krowten? i am wondering if that is ruby hearts in a cooler climate?

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

morning! mama.. none of my stuff is cactus. its all hardy sedums or semps. just some weird looking ones is all lol. as of right now no... i dont have any rooted hollandia. i am going to be trying some today that i took cutting of yesterday off the roadside. there was this huge patch with about 5 different kinds that were gorgeous. and im going to try my burkwoodii too. i so hope these take there soooo pretty! i think they just kept cross breeding and came out like this!

Thumbnail by shokami2
Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well i want a rooted cutting of each. what can i send for one or two of each? even if it takes till next year i am in no rush. and i'll send you something now. what'dya say? lol. but let's get back to the semps. do you want 3 of my babies for 3 different ones of yours? or would you like something else since i don't have any different ones?

Greensburg, PA

Nope, don't remember the name but am certain it is not ruby hearts. Color pattern is completely different as well as smaller. The slight green you may see in the centers is because we have had rain here for almost every day for the past 4 weeks and the plants are growing very fast. However, this one stays red all the time whn not being stressed by such high moisture.

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

mama... 3 of your babies would be fine! what is your preference on my stuff? tall, sedums, semps variety? let me know.

just got the hollandia cuttings in today. i HOPE they will take. ive never started broom before, so will ahe to wait and see. and yes you can trade later some stuff when they (if) get rooted. noooo problemooooo!

Brookeland, TX(Zone 8b)

Mamajack, Brookeland is in Jasper County, Piney Woods Region, Sam Rayburn Reservoir, East Texas, an hour north-ish of Beaumont

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

ooooooooooh, concrete. are you coming to dave's east texas round-up?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

i want the semps. is picture 2 showing one of the ones shown in picture 4? i want number 2 but i also want all 3 different ones in picture 4. so lmk if 2 is different then i have to either come up with something else for you or choose.

where do you get that broom plant? from the wild? isn't there a baby that can be dug? lol is there a nursery that has them? can you buy me one? how much?

Coos Bay, OR(Zone 8a)

lol....... mama you funny! i bought the broom for a nursery that i used to work at locally. i dont know if they have any more. but i did put the cuttings up today and willb e collecting the pods when they ripen and see if i can get them to grow. if i can all of them to cooperate then i will DEFINITLY send you a few!!

as for the semps #2 and #4 are different ones. the ones in 4 i know will be ok cause they came from a mother plant that i had from last year, so its tough, that i know! the ones in 2 i jsut got a few weeks ago so i dont know about them yet. i can trade you one if you want to try it. and i can trade you one of each in 4 so you have a nice variety.

you have dmail!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well i want one of every one that's different if we can find what you want of mine. i just love these little darlings. i wonder where i could go and look and get them identified? did you trade for yours or did you buy them? this is the first one of these i have ever grew and i have kept this one in a pot and it is putting on babies nonstop. do they all grow this fast?

this broom stuff has gotten me in a tizzy, now. i want some really bad. lol. tell me how many colors you already have? how many more are there? i didn't even know this even existed. also, how big does it get? any thorns? when do they bloom? shade or sun?

i am full of questions. i promise it'll stop eventually. lol.
