need IDs on cats

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok...went out to treat some plants for aphids and found some cats on my pink turk's cap and my parsley. The first is the one on the parsley:

Here is the one on the turk's cap. Does anyone have an ID for these?

Thanks! Kim

I believe the first one is....

Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes)

Don't know about the other one.

Sure looks like it. Great! My only thought on the other one was maybe a type of skipper?

Kim, Your BST cats might make it, if you don't have very many wasp around, but chances are the waps will find them before they reach adulthood. The wasp are very good predators, and will steal them right in front of your eyes. A lot of people bring them into nets or cages and allow them to continue to grow in safety. I raised about eight or so last year, but the wasp stole more than that.

Good Luck.

I would love to raise them, but I don't have anything to put them in yet, and I am not always home on the weekends to feed them.

Does anyone have any idea on the other cat?

Kim
