Todays Backyard Pics of Bugs

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Butterfly season has officially arrived for me.
There's been a few days here and there when I've seen only one BF, but today, the heat is out, and the bugs are too.

I'll start with this one.
American Painted Lady, Painted Beauty, Virginia Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)

And here's something new for me.
I don't know what it is yet, but I'm looking.
Looks almost like a toy.

Update:
Actually, we have a new critte update:
Soldier Fly (Hedriodiscus binotatus)

White Crab Spider

As you can see - lots of bugs like the Coreopsis.

Question Mark again - showing it's colors, there were others around, so I guess its trying to attract a mate.....

I'm totally losing the photo contest this year. Those are really beautiful; I like the first one the best. Coreopsis is the official Florida State Wildflower (and it's on my specialized license plate - the money goes to support wildflowers).

Great pics pf! What's the gross stuff the QMs are feasting on?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Melanie, I hope to enter the contest. I did not last year, because I had the "print date" function turned on last year, and although I had some nice pics, the date distracte me and I did not enter. Look out this year!!!! ha!

Digital cameras are a plus, when you can take 100 pics of a bug, and then pick out the very best one. :)
fly_girl, The gross stuff is sun-burned bananas. By the time I got home from work today, they were getting pretty crispy, so I watered them. ha. Question Marks love fruit.

I also had an American Snout on the fruit, but couldn't shoot him.
As you can see, the Hackberry's love it too.

Lots of fruit lovers out there, so put it out for them!!!

But, on some days, you gotta put up with these too. ha. (sorry for sharing)
