Big Game Hunting

Piedmont, AL(Zone 7b)

Howdy....this is a little story I wrote about feeding wild birds, gardening for wildlife and General Sherman....I know it sounds strange but...well if you get a moment to read it I hope it makes you smile......I know big game hunting is big in Texas and Texas is big and well, you know what I mean....:)

cocoa_lulu.....at first I couldn't figure out if it was a National Lampoon rip off or an The Onion send off.....then it hit me, it's for real....bout time a magazine came out that addressed the two closest things to my heart, muzzle velocity and mildew prevention.......:)

Podster, I knew this was the forum for that story, a naked man running around with a gun at 8 in the morning....A Texas tradition, well an Alabama tradition but working its way west......:)

Marylyn....Thanks.....glad you enjoyed it

Loved your story, Paul! Especially since EYE have also had RATS at my bird feeder! Thanks for making me giggle. :)

Piedmont, AL(Zone 7b)

pbtxlady.....If you got bird feeders it ain't for sure but there's chance you got rats or mice....I try to keep my feeder areas clean as I can.....change the mulch under them about twice a month etc.....but it can happen to anyone, at home here in alabama I haven't seen any yet thank goodness.....and pbtxlady, if me and you can laugh at having RATS, lord we can laugh at anything.......:)

Paul, you NEED to move to TX. You could be naked and run around at 8 at night instead....

podster, my dear wife has just informed me that even though I ain't no prize package naked, I better be confining my late night naked romps to our house here in Alabama.....She says one state at a time is enough.......:)

Ewwwwww! :LOL!

Ours did NOT get into the feeders. They didn't have to. We had enough doves to knock it all down on the ground for them. But we have a roof-top deck, with a spiral staircase up to it. When they were through chomping, those rats would run right up the banister on that staircase and play around on our roof. We just sat there and watched and wished we had one of them thar pellet guns so we could shoot them smack dab off.

Sorry dear, these were possums. I would hate large rodents but these guys were ugly but inoffensive. BTW, I live in the woods so they're welcome!

Piedmont, AL(Zone 7b)

I tried to let a possum in the sliding door to the front porch of the apartment we lived in, in Atlanta...I put out some apples and other fruit thinking it might come in to get it....it always drank water from the bird bath in the evenings....My wife was in two words or less.....NOT AMUSED.......I on the other hand thought it was a brilliant idea......:)
