Very handsome!

Mine are coming along nicely, but I don't think they will be as robust looking as yours!

Do you fertilize yours every three weeks or so (I read this somewhere)? I try to but often forget!

Thanks tabasco. My fertilizing schedule is usually somewhat erratic. There's some nice Cleopatra's filling out next to these ones.

I have never been able to get them to come up. I've planted HUGE rootballs and had them languish when everything else in the garden looked great. What is the secret to growing these Eremurus?

They need perfect drainage. I incorporated a massive amount of sand in the area they're grown in.

My foxtail lilies are doing great from the co-op I did last year. They are all yellow and starting to bloom at the base like the one on the right in jmorth's picture.

How long do they keep the bloom? And do they produce only 1 or 2 blooms? Some of mine have multiple shoots coming out of one plant.

I've got some Eremurus coming along, too!

This particular one (in the picture) is 3 years old now. I planted some new ones last fall, also (out of the photo).

I am not sure exactly how long they stay in bloom but if they get enough water and fertilizer I think they stay around for quite a while.

This is the first year I've gotten mine to bloom at the same time as my Alliums and Iris.

I also have some tall Campanulas blooming in the garden now that would look pretty in the same bed with the Eremurus....

Tabasco,
My alliums just stopped blooming a week or so ago and the eremurus is starting. But that vertical and round/yellow and purple together would be great. This is my first year with Eremurus since I did the co-op last fall and hope to do another this fall. They are so cool. I need to read up on the allium - mine are the huge balls with green centers and I assume those, when dried are the seeds.

I had these allium in bloom a week or two ago. I am not sure which ones these are--I have about 10 different varieties and many of them look very similar--it's seems the bloom times are slightly different. I do have some very big ones (giant?) in bloom now but no picture available.

I had to do some trial and error to get the alliums to bloom with the Eremurus and the iris. I also tried three or four different Eremurus and I'm not sure which ones are in the photo-- maybe cleopatra but I also planted some Spring Valley Hybrids in there too.

If you do an Eremurus co-op that would be fun. I wish someone would do an Allium Co-op, too. My first year with alliums was because of a coop we did with Bleek (Touch of Nature).

I may be doing both. Watch the coops

jmorth,
Mine are exactly at the flowering state yours are in the first picture. They are stunning bright yellow.

Great photos. I haven't taken time to review them but do they produce seeds that will produce flowers in the next season or not?

I just got back from a short vacation with my sons and DH for graduation week at the beach and I'm ready to fall over from to much fun ( and my garden exploded in 3 days while I was gone)

Foxtails are about to complete.

If the scapes are allowed to stand and mature I have noted a few seed pods have developed but too my knowledge they've never self seeded. For all their hundreds of flowers the percentage that formed seed pods is probably less than 5 % (at best). I think I've had this group 4 or 5 years. If any pods are noted this year I'll check out their interiors to see if there appears anything viable within.

Congratulations on the graduations and fun in the sun.
