Hi Epi. lover's Just wanted to show off some of my pretty colors that are blooming in the green house this year ..I have a orange one also but no buds yet .
This is my yellow one (they are all day bloomers).
new epic colors
I have unknown epi in bud, I'll post the photos as soon as it open.
Gingerose: What Gorgeous Epi's you have! Really lovely!
I have only a couple of Epi's. One very large E. hookeri that I've had for years and a Ric Rac that I've had for 6 or more years that I just had one bloom form and something happened and it got really nasty looking and is about to fall off. I have a few small cuttings that I've received in trades and hope to someday get some blooms.
That one with the yellow bloom is really gorgeous! And, what can I say about that pink one? Awesome! I love pink so I really think that one is extra special. Had no idea some of the blooms were so large!
Sunshine: That is a gorgeous red blooming Epi you have there too! I think I have a cutting from a trade that was labeled Disocactus Ackermanii ... I can only hope it's as pretty when it matures enough to bloom!
Sunshine, your night bloomer is really pretty I have a bout 4 of them but Im in bed at 8;00-8:30 pm ,so they dont do me any good..lol.. some times when I go look at 4 to 5:00am They will still have a good look to a couple of them ..but I love the colored ones..love your red one do you think my red one is the same as your?
Plantlady, I have 4 big pots of rick rack a lady gave me a handful of cuttings about 3 years ago and they are growing like crazy ..but no blooms...sigh I have a friend who sent me a picture of his epi tha he has out side in a big pot it has ton's of blooms on it One of mine had 16 blooms but I think he has me beat.
Gingerose, wow! that is a beautiful plant!!!!
I think your red one is same is mine but I could be wrong. I like the color ones too.
Gingerose: That pink one is Gorgeous!
Epicactus porn! Seriously wonderful plants, all the plants are beautiful.
All I have is rooted cuttings right now. I am just too cheap to buy more mature plants. I recently got a rooted cutting of Disocactus eichlamii which I understand will bloom with a similar fiery red bloom. I can't wait.
I finally had my first epi bloom this year, I believe it is an ackermanii hybrid - it is red, anyway! I bought the plant over 2 years ago, thought I had killed it the winter before last from overwatering, even though I did not overwater - anyway, I stuck it outside and ignored it last summer, then for the winter put it on a high shelf in my atrium and watered when I remembered to....a few weeks ago I was amazed to see a bud, then a second bud! The flowers were gorgeous, photos do not do them justice!
So many times I have thought about giving this plant and all my epi cuttings away to someone who had more luck with them, but after the red one bloomed, I am psyched!
Yep ..know what you mean..I take a lots of time with mine feed them right watch for snails and sometime I thing is it worth all this ..oh but when they bloom..Im in love with them all over..lol..pictures dont do them justice, but honey thats all we got to show ..so bring them on
