I think its a mourning dove. can anyone confirm? its tail feathers are white tipped.

Yep, Mourning Dove; looks like a recently fledged juvenile, which is why the tail is a bit shorter than normal, not fully grown yet.

Mourning Dove's are very common here in Florida. Lovely bird. Here's some images of mourning doves:
