leafhopper problem

(Annie ) in Austin, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a pretty heavy infestation of leafhoppers that are really attacking my roses and other plants pretty badly. Today, I noticed them on my dill and fennel plants which, of course, have cats on them. People on the rose forum advise me that I need to be aggressive with getting rid of these pests but I don't want to hurt the cats. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I heard of something called Nolo Bait that is supposed to work on just the grasshappers.

I haven't found any yet.....but am getting to that point. I don't mind sharing a little.....but they are getting a mite destuctive.

Where in Austin are you? We're in the SW Hill Country and the munchers are here!

I've also heard of the Nolo but haven't tried it yet. I have a huge problem with Lubber grasshoppers eating everything. Last year I even had one eat part of a bromeliad - and nothing eats those things! I managed to squash most of them when they were young this year, but if I get a bad infestation I might have to resort to something. FYI, I heard you have to use the Nolo when they're young or first emerging. I just remember that it doesn't work once their adults, but read up on it in case I'm wrong.

I Haven't had a problem with Leafhoppers but I'm always so scared to use chemicals. Can't you pick them off or are they impossible to catch?
