Rosemania

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

OK, I backed down and bought more roses than I was supposed to this year, just to get the blooms!! I have a new rose garden that I was filling up and then...I decided to expand via pots.

New Roses for this year 2008:

Applejack
Quantro Saisons
Hippolyte
Neptune
Christian Dior
Nearly Wild
Four Inch Heels
Westerland
Madame Alfred Carriere
White Dawn
Buff Beauty
Fourth of July (a replacement)
Don Juan (#2)
Lovestruck
April in Paris, AND
Aeromatherapy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my nose and eyes are not delighted this summer, there is no show for the $$$. And I didn't get all that I wanted yet....

Anyone else do this?? No fun to party alone.

Wow! Your already-gorgeous garden will be stunning! I have a black thumb with roses. But Becky has a Pink single Knockout that astonished me at the swap -- really really pretty. I had always thought of the Knockouts as more utilitarian, but this one was really lovely.

They won't do too much the first couple of years, I planted mine last year, half in planters, the other half in the ground - I might add a couple of more this year - climbers, my current ones are doing ok, but I am not expecting to be wowed until next year!

Happy is right, the KO is doing great, great bloomer already!!

I'm just amazing by the shades of pink on the KO -- not uniform, which makes it especially appealing.

Told ya Fox that Becky would be in to share!! Her's are gorgeous!!! I have one that I barely keep alive each year - after hacking repeatedly. Matter-a-fact I believe it has reverted to it's root stock completely - I've not seen a pink rose yet this year....all red....name? Who knows!!! It WAS a Tiffany Hybrid Tea Rose....^_^

LOL!! Yes, Becky stepped up to the plate and wow, the pictures!! Those are great, Becky, and yes, the pink KO is pretty. Happy, get yourself one and give it a try. See if you can even grow it in your sunny office. They need at least 6 hours of direct hit to flower good. Of course they are big, but ... else, you can try a miniature rose. They are only one to two feet tall.

I will post my pictures when I get some more blooms. I have a few from my established plants now but the climbers haven't started to climb much yet. Eight of the new plants were actually cuttings and are only 8 inches tall. Bummer. 'April in Paris', a rose I was very excited about, arrived as bareroot a month ago and now has a single bud on it. I think it will open in a week or so, depending on the weather. Can't wait!!!!
