Hi everyone,
I have enjoyed all the great pics on this forum and wondered if anyone would like to make some plant suggestions for my half barrel. It's in full sun(zone 7b in NC) in the foundation bed in front of my white vinyl siding house. We don't use our front entry much so it will mostly be viewed from a distance. I've tried different things in previous years but nothing has stood out as the perfect choice.
TIA,
Shari
Plant ideas for half barrel
Hi Shari... I use half barrels for everything! From roses to dahlias to veggies to lavender to.... sounds like you need a good combo with some punch, against the white siding, however I don't have any great suggestions. But, perhaps include something that grows tall as well as something that spills over..... I dunno. Good luck!

Lowes has some great books on container gardening. Also there are Gardening magazines and specific container gardening magazines on a bi-monthly basis. hope this info will give you ideas?
I've used half barrels for roses (Betty Prior was a great rose), and have also used combos of annuals to great success. One I remember well was a combination of red, purple and yellow, very hot and outstanding. I think I used deep purple petunias, red salvia and yellow marigolds, but now I'd want perennials.
Thanks for the replies. I've also been given some good suggestions on my local GW forum. I won't be sure what I'm gonna do probably until I visit the nursery,lol-just the way I am.
Shari
Check out Proven Winners website. They have container "recipies" you could modify to fit your barrel.
