I was moving some of my plants around today and noticed the newest leaf had this green streak that went all the way to the top. Any idea if this will continue, it looks pretty cool?
Coffee cups with a lime green racing stripe on the stem!
I believe Colocasia coffee cups or Tea cups which ever name is being used. Is a hybrid or a mutation off of Fontanesii I have found it to produce some odd variegations in the leaves as well as some odd looking flowers that look to be sterile. I believe the genetics are a bit off in this one and I think as it is being produced some odd mutations may pop up from time to time. Maybe some will be stable?
Here is a pic of it flowering which I have only had it do one time. A few of the flowers were fused together as you can see in the pic.
I bought it when it was coffee cups but I guess since Tea cups is sticking I will use that from now on. I've never had a flower but a ton of offsets. Yea it would be real nice to see this become stable. I'll see with the next leaf I guess.... I agree with the Fontanesii hybrid-mutation, they are very similar except for the runners on Fontanesii and offsets on Tea cups.
