Weed or Flower?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Found 2 different plants under some weeds, I like the blue ones which means it's probably a weed. Does anyone recognize either of these? Posting just the flower of this one in reply to this thread. Then 2nd unknown.
Thanks, Vicki

Centaurea montana - not classically defined as a weed, but I know folks that feel that way about it!
It's sturdy & pretty hardy, and reseeds, but not horribly.
I'd vote for letting it stay - I think you'll like it.

And if you like these - there are others colours!
also - a very pretty one is centaurea dealbata.
I like the centaureas because they are petty much foolproof. Plus, they naturalize well.

The difference between a weed and a flower is whether it gets pulled or not. So its all down to your opinion.

I like to call these perennial bachelor buttons.
The flower is just like the annual bachelor button, but bigger.
Being as I like blue flowers, I keep them ...or pot them up .

I vote keep it for awhile, if you like it keep it forever, it is easy to pull the babies and keep them inbounds. I love mine and it was brought here by the birds!
