My sister has regular hibiscus (not tropical) on the side of her townhouse. This morning while I was watering and fertilizing them, I noticed a very thin, black worm or parasite for lack of a better word on them. The bug is thin like a needle and black about a few cms to maybe half an inch long.
Are any of you familiar with what this could be? I have never seen anything like this and I have lots of various plants just no hibiscus. I will try to get a picture when I got back over.
Thanks!
Patty
Hibiscus ?
Don't know what it is, other than a long thin black bug.
The most common pests that seem to love hibiscus are aphids and whiteflies, yours definitely doesn't sound like either one. So I don't think it's something that's specific to hibiscus--if you are able to get a pic of it you might try the Bug ID forum or Pests & Diseases instead, that's where you'll find the bug experts.
