Hey Jo,
Hope you have a great day, despite this crappy rain! See you this afternoon.
Joanne
Happy Birthday joannabanana!
Happy Birthday to both Jo's!
Hippy B-Day Jo!!!! CYA in about 1/2 hour.
Happy Birthday. Have a great day, from Glenda, enjoying the glorious weather in Victoria(FINALLY!!!!)

Sandy
Happy Birthday joannabanana! Hope you had a great day.
Happy birthday Jo! I hope your day was wonderful.
Thank you for the wishes. Although it rained, still had an awesome visit & little garden tour/plant share with some wonderful gardening friends.
Oh dear, now isn't that just too appropriate for this weekend? Very cute - did your neighbor paint it?
Will the rain ever stop; I just hauled all my plants (and by all, I mean a LOT) into the garage. One of the forecasters said we might have flurries in the morning....sigh...
EEK! Took me 2 hours to put everything in the greenhouse & garage. Dug up a few things & put them in a pail in the garage.
Happy Birthday Joanna! (from the person who just finished unloading her yard and reloading up her greenhouse and porch and covering plants on south hill).
Better late than never .. Belated BDay wishes from me to you :-)
Your Garden rock is wonderful !!!
No covering and uncovering going on here .. I doubt many folks in TBay have planted anything but vegetables or seeds ..
~M~
Happy belated birthday :)
Yikes, I didn't realize there are two Joannes with birthdays; I thought it was the same thread as the other one. I'm so sorry.
Happy belated birthday Joanne!!
Erynne
Thanks all. It is really funny since both of us interchange "Jo & Joanne " all the time.
jo-north, jo-south works for me ^_^
LOL @ Erynne!
Jo-north. :)
I'm Jo South :)
Duly noted! Bananas typically grow in the south so this should be easy to remember ;)
Erynne
Not to mention she's kind of bananas anyway. LOL. ;p
Jo-north

Hey Jo-north - would that be NE? Cuz that's where I am........ on 16th NE, to be exact lol
We could be neighbours and not even know it!! And, btw - I work in the NW, so we still could be neighbours anyways......... :-)
Guess that would make me Susan-north lol
Happy Belated B-day to both Jo's!!!!!!!!! (knew it was Grow_Jo's, but not the banana Jo LOL)

Well Susan, technically I live north of joannabanana and dahlianut, but I actually still live in the SW part of the city...
jo-north Ü
hahahaha so ur Not a northerner!
What a day! I went to Sunnyside because they promised me they had Lots of 4" pots of Datura - they had none........... BUT they Did have the 6" pots @ $35/each.... Yikers. I was going to buy 3, but not at That price, so settled for one. It's a different colour than I'm used to. I'd only seen white before, but this one is Royal Purple! Can't wait to have the blooms open.
I told one of my neighbours that my rep was at stake, so had to buy at least one. I'd had 2 diff neighbours ask me if I were going to grow them again, so I really had no choice :-)
To make me feel better that they didn't have what they said they did, I managed to find some Cleome! Boy am I glad......... I'd been looking for them since '06, and was told they don't sell well in Calgary, so I should give up. (Unless I were to go to Black Diamond and buy them there. Talk about a 1 1/2 hr trip? I think not.
I understand that by seed they take 21 days to germinate. Wow! I have some seeds, but I think they must be sterile, cuz they didn't do anything and I planted them in March. I tried everything - in a water cup with plain water; with peroxide; straight into the ground; planting the whole seed pod; leaving Mother Nature to deal with it by throwing some seed pods around the garden - Nothing worked. Ah well - they must have been sterile.
I need to go out now & finish planting my porchulaca in my backyard planter (love that stuff!)
And the weather is be - a - u- tiful!
Susan I saw Cleome at Greengate earlier this week. Tried to grow it for years but never had any luck. However I resisted buying any this year!
Another nice day - got a few more things planted. Still trying to dig up a spirea in the front yard - only a little bit alive on one side so I want to get it out and replant the living bit but I cant get the darn thing out! Need somebody with muscle!
Maybe I should saunter across the street and ask that group of young men sitting on their front steps probably drinking beer and being rather noisy - but not noisy enough for me to go and ask them to turn the volumn down.
Ah well I suppose I could call Hire A Husband. Do you suppose they do things like that?
Geez - the Cleome I used to grow in Wpg did fantastically! It always self-seeded & came back the next year in bunches - grew 5-6 ft tall!
Absolutely ask the group!! That's why they build up their muscles, so they can impress the ladies!
Hire A Husband is supposed to do (almost) anything you'd ask of a husband LOL Some things wouldn't be moral LOL But asking the young group is absolutely right!
Well, the garden is looking better now that I've transplanted & planted and watered. You wouldn't think I'd need to, after the soaking we've been getting, but as most of these are new plants and dry from the nursery, they sure needed a good soaking! Looks like we're going to get a lot more rain next week, too.
Oh dear. I had a heavy Philharmonic week and have not been to DG, and missed wishing both Jos happy birthday!!!! I wish you both a green and wonderful year! Theresa
