I am growing honeydews for the first time in years. They are from Burpees, I think Earlidew. The fruits are huge and some are starting to loose the "fuzzy" hairs. How do I tell when they are ripe? We garden year round here, the regular cantaloupes/muskmelons are ripe already. I can take a photo if needed. Do honeydews "slip" from the vine, or do they need to be cut?
Honeydew melon question
Thanks Farmerdill. I should have kept the seed pack so I could remember which variety. The stem ends of the melons are getting a white color and hard feel instead of the apple green fuzz. I will keep an eye on the fruits. I don't like overripe melon!
