Yes Kell, I agree. It has a prominent position in my garden, though it doesn't repeat flower.
I'm gradually trying to build up my collection of the older roses, I find them fascinating - and with wonderful scent.

I agree esp ones that have such an interesting color scheme.

This one gradually fades to a softer, mauver pink.
I'm looking forward to getting Jenny Duval and comparing the two - a local nursery has both......
I used to have a plant of Jenny Duval in the UK, but it was a few years ago now and I can't remember the flower properly - only that I loved it.

Is Northern California a good place to grow roses? I've been admiring your additions to the PF, so that's probably a silly question

Seems to be. We have some great rose gardens all over here to go to and enjoy! We have such low humidity so you would think fungal diseases would be at a minimum. But I was in the midst of my rose garden yesterday and it seems they have snuck up on me. I had sprayed earlier in the week so I hope it all goes away. I am going to put down horticultural corn meal today and see if that cures what ails me.

We al so have mass plantings of roses all along the freeway. Huge stands of them. They are in such incredible bloom right now, I love driving around. I wish I could get out and take pictures of them.

Here is a public rose garden in Oakland.
