Desparate !! wont even load in SAFE MODE

here's the quick and dirty of it...

got up this morning, as usual first thing, flip on the PC.

My kid says,"Mom, the screen is blue".
go up stairs .... blue screen .... says something about disabling new hard ware or soft ware... and booting up in SAFE MODE
which i have tried about 5 or 6 times now.

it will 'run thru it's process' then it stops / freezes on
multi[0]disk[0]rdisk[0]partition[2]windows system32 drivers mup.sys
[i tried putting in the forward slash... but it doesnt show up for some reason]

I am at a total loss.

It's kind a hard to diagnose something when it wont even boot into anything....
