Short version of the story is I left my ladder against the back of the house next to the backdoor when the weather suddenly turned bad and I decided not to get on the roof and clean the gutters.. A week or so later when I finally got arround to doing it.. A pair of mourning doves had built a nest on it.. Anyway after a couple of weeks now, they have gotten used to us and the dogs coming and going.. so much so.. that Papa posed for this pic this morning.
Mourning Dove.. Mama and Papa have got used to us.
Great pic Calquhoun! My doves are so skittish I can't imagine ever getting a shot like this one!
Morning doves are wonderful. I had a mommy make a nest several years in a row under my arbor. She did not seem to be afraid of us
and we were able to watch her take care of her young. This was in California. Have not seen any here where I now live in Or. Miss them!
So sweet!
Thats very nice !!
Oooo, I bet you just want to reach out and pet them!
Beahive, I'm surprised you don't get Mourning Doves where you are. I had them SE corner of Washington AND here in Boise Idaho.
Sweet pics...Mourning Doves are so pretty!
I checked the list of Oregon birds, and your are correct psychw2 in saying they are here in OR..but just not at my house now. Hopefully they will find their way one day! Sure love them and the cooing.
