NPR and Fertilizer Gold

Lodi, United States

"Day to Day" on NPR just had a whole segment on the rising cost of fertilizer and the move to manure. One beef raiser said his cattle's manure could soon be worth more than their meat. Another egg farmer said he knew that people were desperate for his hen's manure but he hadn't figured how to tie it up for easy use yet.

We are all sitting on a gold mine!LOL.

Missed that one Cat. I'll have to check out it on their website. My DD can't stand it when I listen to NPR; she'd rather listen to music(thankfully country music). I'll still torture her once in awhile and make her listen to it!! I'd rather listen to NPR or talk radio-figure if I have to sit in the car I may as well be learning something or getting a good laugh!

Ahh, with all this gold you'd think we'd be able to retire!!

Gosh I must be rich and don't know it! I've got about 2 tons of horse manure aging and now I'm adding the goat, chicken etc manure. If only I could take it to the bank LOL! Jim the guy who sold me my goats sells his composted manure (really nice looking stuff!) at $20./pickup truck load.

I used to pay my son to clean out my rabbits' litterboxes. He'd clean them out and refill them with clean pine pellets and hay and then sell the dirty litter to my mom for compost at $5 a bag lol

Love the rabbit poo! There's quite a few people DH works with that love it. Problem is they don't want to pay for it! Boy your son made out pretty well!
