Pacific Madrone, Arbutus
Arbutus menziesii
Growing naturally on a very small island in the Orcas group of the San Juan Islands, Washington state. A prankster has been at work on the dead branch.
Pacific Madrone, Arbutus (Arbutus menziesii)
Was this near Doe Bay? Talk about a good illustration of the kind of drainage this tree needs!
Cool picture, you should post it in Photos!
Thanks for the feedback. I am not sure which of the islands/bays it is near. I was a mere tourist out whale watching. This was just a humorous adjunct to a wonder day on the water.
Sounds like fun! I went whale watching up in the sound a couple years ago and greatly enjoyed it, but then I love boats and ship. I just don't get the chance very often.
