Our neighbor has a broken window in their garage. A robin was determined to build a nest in the opening even though the nest kept falling down between the window and a piece of cardboard. It finally succeeded in building a sturdy nest (but there are no eggs in it yet).
One determined robin
A nice dry spot for the baibes too, clever bird! That's a lot of extra nesting material the poor thing had to carry.
It reminds me of the crows which nested in my chimney which is a total of 23 feet from the bottom to top. When the time came to clean the chimney before having fires in the autumn it was a long job to remove all the twigs which went all the way to the bottom platform, several sacks of it!
Looks like a pretty good spot for a family! A colleague of mine said a robin built a nest on her second floor window sill (a tree is protecting it from the south sun), and there are 3 babies. Much safer than a shrub! Smart bird.
Did the robins end up laying eggs?
Hey, wallaby, just imagine if the fire had been lit without clearing the chimney first!
No, the neighbors were doing repairs on the garage and it scared her off. Too bad, it would have been fun to watch!
What a shame they couldn't have waited to do the repairs!
Yes margaret, lol, scary!
