and came home with this (I did get the dog food as well). That will teach DH to wait in the car while I go in the store!
So I went to the coop to buy dog food. . .
If you got a hosta from Jim, you might be a PNWer.
If you have a plant from Dragonfly, you might be a PNWer.
If you have datrura starts from Mellisa, you might be a PNWer.
If you have blue columbine from Mary, you might be a PNWer.
If you stole a chunk of plant from Dunn's, you might be a PNWer.
If you froze you butt off at the first two plant swaps, you might be a PNWer.
If you read all of this, and it applies, youe ARE a PNWer!!
Ummm...I don't have any datura from Melissa or blue columbine from Mary. . .guess I still have a ways to go. But I have a milk can. Not only one, but a miniature as well. Does that not count for anything?
If you can get the lid off it counts for everything! I like that one better than the rusty ones in the barn. I still haven't done anything with them yet. Now, what are you going to plant in there? Or are you going to use it as stand? I thought blue was a nice color. Cool and relaxing!
Don't know yet. Just asked mom if she was going to do anything with it and she said to take it. Who could resist? The other is an ugly grey which may need to be painted but I suppose I could put them together in some way with some plant thingys in them. . . { = p
By the way that was a major cool score! I love the colors. What store were you at? My yellow rhodie is about to bloom. But not that far along.
Wait a miniute,,,,,
I have all of above, Except
A plant from Dunn's
And have never got to go to a swap.
And I do not have a milk can, have a butter wipper thingy, that can't go outside.
I think that makes her a true PNWer
^_^
OO forgot, thats why I leave Hubby at home when I shop, good score
Love the color on the Rhody.
Really makes me chuckle. (You know, eventually husbands catch on! "Just running up to get...." "Great, I'll come with ya'" Darn - fortunately, mine travells!)
Azalea 'Golden Lights' (aka, 'Northern Lights' according to the tag). Smells delicious! They had another called 'Gibraltar' which appears to have a darker, more orange flower, but equally as pretty but doesn't appear to be fragrant. Got it at the Coop, which is the local hardware/feed/goody store.
I think of milk cans to be mid western thing! That's where I got mine.
Gwen
who got a plant from Dunn's?
Great azalea and milk can. I guess what I have isn't a milk can it say standard oil on it. And it is a metal gray. Love the blue.
My dad worked for Standard Oil for a gazillion years, Willow!!! In fact, he retired from there and it was basically his only "real" job all his adult life. He doesn't even have a can! (He probably would have tossed it away even if he'd had one!!)
Anyway, paint it blue!!!!
Hey Sheri. Nice choice. There's a whole Northern Lights (that's the trademark) series. I have one - I think it's Mandarin Lights - will have to look and it's about to pop. They are fragrant and very, very cold hardy. Don't you just love those colors?
Katye - I thought the same things. Wait, did somebody get a plant from Dunn. Does lusting after the Kurabayashi Trillium count? I stole it in my head . . .
If any one is missing the Columbine, I still have seeds, and I am sure I will find more babies. LOL
No Dunn plant here.
Tills...I'd love some blue columbine.
And I don't have a plant from Dunn but Kathy & Kate...we did get Erythronium seeds from there so I guess technically we will have plants from Dunn eventually, right?
I will find some for you.
Tills ~ Thanks. If you can't find babies, seeds will be fine. 'Preciate it.
You got it. the butterfly starts are doing good, they rooted.
The Fushia you liked has started to leaf out, soon I will get some starts off it going.
Sheri - you're right!!
I was looking on their site last night. They have the trientalis (star flower). Funny.
Thanks Tills..you're too generous.
Kathy ~ let me know when you want to go again...I'm game!
Fab milk can. Looks nice painted, and a good color combination with the azalea.
Speaking of doggies, we had an assembly at school today about safety when hiking and what to do if you get lost. Jim Griswold was there to tell the kids about how to use a garbage bag cape to stay warm and dry and what kind of whistle to blow so the searchers can find you, and of course he introduced us to a bloodhound named Sarah who has saved several people. She was immensely patient and put up with pets from over a hundred kids.
Sarah and Betty are quite a team. I laid a qualifying trail for Sarah at our annual recertification campout weekend last October at Fort Flagler. I climbed about 10' up a tree and waited there for her to find me. When she got to the tree, I was sitting quietly up there and when she figured out where I was, she tried to climb the tree to get me! Grizz and Betty are part of our SAR group. We are starting to present school programs around the area and it's really quite fun! Most of the kids really love the bloodhounds because they are such sweet and unusual dogs and all seem to really love kids. And ol' Grizz is quite the gregarious guy. . .he's a talker!
Good luck, this weekend.
Thanks, Tills
Give a wisper in Chilis ear, Tilly is counting on you. LOL
Hi Mummer, I will paint it blue. What kind of paint is used on them? Any instructions will help.
Willow, ask at your favorite hardware store (or paint store or whatever) - they'll know for sure what is best. It will be great!!!!!
I will have it done by the end of summer. Yes!
